Selefast, motorized filament selector (not mixing)
thingiverse
I decided to skip this version and go straight to the final one, called SeleXt. It's better finished and functional, so you might as well check it out instead! I'm moving on to new projects now. You can catch all my latest updates at BOP, by the way. It was just a couple of days ago when I stumbled upon "Selectra 5" while browsing online. That design really caught my eye - especially its clever way of switching filament. Since I love taking on challenges, I said to myself, "I want to give this a try." One thing that didn't quite sit right with me was the sliding cam system. While it's good for keeping things neat and tidy, it can be a bit slow when you need to switch between filaments. So, here's my first remix: * I ditched the go devil dimensions and went with a revolving cam instead. This way, no matter how many filaments you're working with (but don't overdo it!), the motor only has to do one revolution - just 200 steps! Naturally, this meant modifying the sliding mechanism as well. I tried to keep it small, around 120x120mm, but still make sure it was easy to print. This second release is designed for four filaments, but you can easily expand it to five or more if you need to. Plus, it's now shrinkable down to two extruders with the right supplies. If you're interested in checking out the full project, just head over to Tinkercad and search for "Selefast".
