This is a replacement part for Seiko 56xx watch movements. The original parts (belonging to Seiko assembly no. 981560) are made of unobtainium plastic that cracked with age and now impossible to find. There's a brass version made by Vintage Time Australia, it is probably much better but also somewhat expensive, and I wanted to make them on the cheap.Print supported_star.stl on a well-calibrated 8K+ resin printer (I used ELEGOO Saturn 8K). I didn't do a great job modeling the bottom of the supports, so a 1mm raft is advised. 0.05mm layer thickness is fine. The star comes off the supports VERY easily, so better remove it while the print is still on the plate, otherwise you're likely to lose it.For installation, follow the VTA's video. The protruding teeth should be facing UP from the steel wheel and the plate, just like the original.I prefer to put the spring washer between the plate and the steel wheel, just like VTA does, but it's up to you.NB: The resulting star, printed with Siraya Fast resin, is plenty strong enough to hold to the forces it is normally subjected to, but YMMV. I have not tested it over long periods of time either, it might crack or release some fumes and ruin the watch, or burn your house down. I assume no responsibility for any of that, and please - PLEASE - don't put it in the customers' watches, get one from VTA instead.
