Seig Mini Mill X2 Intermediate gear
thingiverse
I designed a custom gear to replace the one I damaged while upgrading my belt drive system. I chose not to purchase a new gear that might become obsolete once my modification is complete. Instead, I decided to print one myself using my 3D printer. Initially, I was able to perform some milling operations on the PLA gear without any issues. However, as time went by, the gear started to melt, and its teeth began to wear down, eventually becoming rounded. The key also melted into the gear, causing it to become misshapen. To work around this problem, I discovered that milling in short increments is a viable solution with this material. However, it's only a temporary fix until I can find a more reliable and permanent solution.
