Sega Saturn Male Communication Port Connector
thingiverse
This is a male connector for the Sega Saturn Communication Port designed to make development of accessories more accessible and affordable. The goal was to create an easily adaptable and cost-effective solution. I've opted for Molex KK 2759 spring crimp type pins because they provide a reliable connection that doesn't require soldering. These types of connectors can be purchased from various online retailers, including Digikey, Mouser, and Aliexpress. Inside the 123D Design file, there are also models for using DuPont male pin connectors, but these have not been tested yet. If anyone has a better connector option available, feel free to share it. Crimp type connectors were chosen over soldering due to their convenience and the reduced risk of damaging the plastic. This project is still a work in progress, but I believe it's ready for use. I printed this connector using ABS on my DaVinci 2.0 Duo. By setting the nozzle width to 0.19mm in Simplify3D, despite having a 0.4mm nozzle, I was able to achieve good results. Assuming a 0.2mm nozzle would produce even better outcomes. If you have access to Simplify3D, you can review the profile I used for printing this connector. After printing, minimal post-processing is required. A small amount of ABS sludge or glue may be necessary to enhance pin retention.
