Secure Cable Guide for Duplicator i3 and Maker Select V2 Printers
thingiverse
For those of you who've been using OctoPi or connecting to your printer's serial, a bad fit between the board and connector can cause connections to timeout. Using this secure cable guide eliminates movement due to interference between the cable and 3D printed part, resulting in no more lost connections from loose cables. A shielded cable with a ferrite core is recommended for connecting the printer's board to the Pi: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L18RZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Installation instructions: * Place the cable into the 3D printed part so only the micro USB is showing, then apply super glue to the face of the part that will touch the control box. This ensures proper alignment by placing the cable in before gluing. * Press on the part to the box and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before use. Once the glue dries, this cable can't be moved at all, and I've had no problems mid-print when communicating with Octoprint. The SD card also fits nicely in its slot without sticking out too far.
