Secondary drive gear for Schmidling Maltmill

I lost the secondary spur gear for my Schmidling Maltmill in a cross country move, making my Gear Drive option just a passive roller. The Gear Drive Option is/was great, turning one roller slightly faster than the other, not only crushing but shredding the grains and increasing efficiency for my brew days.

Schmidling closed its doors a couple years ago, but owner Jack replied to an email inquiry I had about spare parts. He not only provided the part numbers, but suggested an industrial supply shop and a machine shop, neither which have replied to my queries (so far).

So, while I wait, I decided to model my own as a temporary fix.

There is a pilot hole if you want to drill out or tap a screw or bolt in as a set screw. One version also has a… reverse of a notch(?) or a flat edge to the bore, to fit the cutout on the roller axle as well.

Printed with .2 layer height, 50 top and bottom layers, 8 walls printed to print solid.

With the tooth count, pitch degree, and a couple informed guesses I whipped up this model with a spur gear online calculator, inkscape, and tinkercad.

Thanks again to Jack for replying to my emails for all the info I needed.

https://media.giphy.com/media/Oyk9WXWyLrJqQRWDfA/giphy.gif

Maltmill page http://schmidling.com/maltmill.htm
