Add a Second Z Axis on Your Microcube for Improved Bed Stability This Modification is Compatible with the Original Microcube, Allowing You to Reuse Your Existing Bed Plate by Swapping Out Two Original Bed Levers for New Dual Axes Bed Levers and Printing Replacement Parts. **Required Components:** * Printed Parts: + 2 x dual_axes_bed_lever.stl (replaces original bed lever) + 1 x new Z_axis_platform_mount from the original Microcube parts + 1 x new z_axis_motor_mount_rod from the original Microcube parts + 1 x new z_axis_bearing_mount_rod from the original Microcube parts + 2 x new z_motorshaft_shaft_coupler from the original Microcube parts * Metal Parts: + 2 x LM8UU linear bearings + 2 x 8mm smooth rod 200mm + 1 x M5 threaded rod 160mm + M5 nut + 1 x motor for the new z axis + nuts and bolts * Alternative LCD Mount (optional): if you use a LCD screen, as the original one is incompatible with a new z axis on the front side. **Step-by-Step Instructions:** 1. Print the plastic parts. 2. Remove your bed plate and the bed lever (keep the screw on your bed as is). 3. If you use an LCD, remove it, and put the original mounting parts away. 4. Mount the new z axis on the front side of the printer, following the original Microcube build guide (no need for Z endstop screw on the new z bed platform). 5. Fix your bed on the two z plateforms using the new bed levers. 6. If you use an LCD, fix it using the alternative mount. **Tips to Reduce Friction and Adjust the Z Axis:** 1. Loosen all screws of the Microcube structure. 2. Manually turn one axis to have each platform at exactly the same height (use a rule or caliper to measure distance between top and z_axis_bearing_mount_rod). 3. Once aligned, use motors to move bed up and down a few times while loosening the structure. 4. Help the structure by if necessary. 5. Gently tighten all screws. **Important Note:** * If you are using 28BYJ-48 motors, you may need a new A4988 motor stepper driver due to inaccurate winding resistance. * Measure coil resistance of each motor; if it's too different, connect second z axis motor to dedicated motor driver and configure firmware to replicate z motor move to E1 motor driver.
