Marina Davydovna Ryndzyunskaya (1877-1946) was a talented sculptor of Russian and Soviet descent. Born in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, she later moved with her family to Astrakhan where she developed her skills as an artist. In 1926, Ryndzyunskaya joined the prestigious Society of Russian Sculptors, and soon her studio became a hub for meetings and discussions among its members. Ryndzyunskaya's work gained international recognition when she participated in the Moscow exhibition to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution in 1927. Her artistic talent was once again showcased at the Venice Biennale in 1932, where her sculptures drew significant attention from art enthusiasts worldwide. The Tretyakov Gallery proudly displays several of Ryndzyunskaya's masterpieces, including a striking statue of Mamlakat Nakhangova. Critics have praised her style for its resemblance to the iconic works of Auguste Rodin and Antoine Bourdelle. Prior to her passing, Ryndzyunskaya generously donated many of her creations to her hometown.
