Seated Figure from Ecuador at the UEA, Norwich
myminifactory
This sculpture originates from South America, specifically Ecuador, of the La Tolita-Tumaco culture, dating back to 300 BC-AD 400. The Tumaco-La Tolita culture is a pre-Columbian archaeological culture that flourished along the coastal region on the border of Colombia and Ecuador. Two significant sites associated with this native culture are Tumaco-La Tolita, from which it derives its name, and archaeologists refer to it as both the Tumaco and La Tolita cultures. Archaeological evidence suggests that the former site of The Tolita dates back to the seventh century BC, while materials from Tumaco have been dated to 300 BC.
