The Bodhisattva Maitreya sculpture, representing the Buddha of the Future, dates back to the 7th-8th century and was discovered in Afghanistan near Kabul. Measuring 77.8 cm in height, it is made of schist and classified as a sculpture. Acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1920 through the Rogers Fund, it has been digitally captured and cleaned by Todd Blatt using Autodesk 123D Catch during the Met MakerBot Hackathon in June 2012.
