Seatback bag / cargo hook clip-on body
thingiverse
My friend recently purchased a VW Caddy to accommodate their growing kids, and it's been a game-changer for family transportation. One of the nice features is its 14mm headrest rods, but unfortunately, the front seat headrests are not removable - a common design oversight in many vehicles. A clever DIY solution I stumbled upon involves adding a 13mm 'throat' to the existing rod, making it easy to clip on and off as needed. When attempting this modification, I strongly advise against using PLA for the clip-on mechanism due to its tendency to be too flexible. The gap between the rod and the throat needs to be precisely smaller than the rod itself, which can put excessive stress on the material if not done correctly - a problem that PETG solves nicely. As with any modification, results may vary depending on individual circumstances, so use caution and adjust accordingly.
