Seat Stay Link for Belt Drive Modification
thingiverse
I wanted to attach a link to my bike that would enable me to use a belt drive, such as the Gates Carbon Drive. This is a brazing/soldering link for seat stays that can be opened and closed again without any loose parts. To avoid warping the frame when opening it, you have to be very careful. I recommend orienting it laterally. Of course, it needs to be adapted if your bike doesn't come with a 13 mm chain stay with an 11 mm inner diameter. There are two versions available: one for countersunk screws and another for flathead screws. To install this link on a standard bicycle frame for belt drive conversion (for example, the Gates Carbon Drive), you will need to choose between two hard soldering options: one for M6 countersunk screws and another for M8 flathead screws. Both are designed for use with tubes that have a 13 mm outer diameter and an 11 mm inner diameter. When attaching these links to your seat stays, you should remove 35 mm or, in the case of the flathead version, 37 mm from the tube. They should be soldered so that the separation is horizontal.
