seat/saddle bike- topology optimization
thingiverse
Hey guys, I created this saddle for my three-year degree in mechanical engineering in order to reduce weight. The work focused only on the saddle frame and the connection system with the seat tube, achieving a mass reduction of 61% - not considering the saddle hull. More weight could be removed by redesigning the hull. The saddle is fixed and the adjustment in advancement and tilt occurs on the cad. The uploaded file refers to an average condition with the saddle tube inclination angle adjustment at 72 degrees. I used PETG as the material, and PrusaSlicer was the slicer. I printed the piece inclined to achieve higher strength, and I created the support with meshmixer. In the zip file, you'll find the saddle with its support. I printed everything with 100% infill except for the hull. I've been using it for a few months now, and I've covered a few hundred kilometers. For long rides, I recommend adding a cushion.
