Seat Enhancement for Mini Cooper F5X
thingiverse
I own a MINI Cooper Clubman F54 and have experienced difficulties with the seating position. The seating alignment is noticeably different from that of an F56 or F60. The problem lies in the fact that when seated correctly, I always find a gap between my legs and the area where they should rest, causing significant discomfort over time. To address this issue, I came up with the idea of creating a wedge to fit snugly into place and elevate the front portion of the seat. I have been using this setup for nearly a year now, and it works flawlessly, even with PLA material. Here are some key statistics: In the shortest position, you can expect about 4cm of additional space at the front edge. In the longest position, you gain approximately 4.5cm in height compared to the original seating position. Please watch my YouTube video (https://youtu.be/4ShJCRIVTqk) for a visual demonstration. The entire wedge consists of three separate components: Part 1: The main frame Part 2: Requires gluing to the main frame Part 3: Due to the fragile nature of the seat frame arms, print these parts with extra caution to prevent breakage. I was initially concerned that PLA might not withstand summer temperatures. However, even when parked in direct sunlight at 36°C for extended periods or subjected to maximum seat heating in winter, the wedge has shown no signs of degradation. Regarding the original screws, I found them to be particularly specialized and difficult to source. As a result, I opted for M6x40 or 50mm screws with wing nuts instead. One important note: if you forget to reconnect the seat-heating wires, the feature will not function properly.
