Another UPDATE (1/1/2020) Apparently, I am a bit obsessed. The kilt needed a belt, and the belt needed a buckle. I found a buckle blank on Amazon (intended for leatherwork https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0035DH55C/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_BvxdEb8WBXGR7) and revisited all the original files to make the thing. Pretty easy to print flat on most FDM printers, though the insert could benefit from a raft due to the fiddly tentacles. Printed in PLA, a little love from a heat gun helped it make the slight bend to the blank. UPDATE (before I learned a date would be nice): A brainwave caused me to revisit the brooch. I have uploaded a version with no supports and a revised logo on the back. This should be useful to those using a non-FDM printer. (1/1/20 sidenote: I just thought of a workflow that would have made this project much easier, and made the files easier to print as well as making the finished product easier to mold and reproduce. Maybe I'll start all over one day. Live and learn. Like I say, this was my first remix) The file does not print well laying on its back, due to the resolution of most FDM machines, so adjusting the angle of the object on the print bed is important. 60° seems about right. Obviously, supports will be needed. I will probably post a version with a stand once my printer starts behaving again. This is specifically made for those who bought into the JoCoCruise Kraken Kilt and need a brooch to hold on the plaid fly. If you have a clue, smile knowingly. If you are drawing a blank, just move along. You can google all that if you want. REALLY IMPORTANT: While the back of the brooch prints fine with minimal supports, the SeaMonkeyInsert requires a specific set of settings and supports, or just forget about it. Read those details carefully This brooch prints in two parts. Mine were printed on an Creality Ender 3 Pro Using Silver filament for the brooch and Gold for the insert. The eyes are some 2.5mm garnets I found on Amazon. Only about 3¢ each if you buy 500. They slide easily into the eyesockets of the model, but also slide out, so a touch of glue is required. Also needed is the pin to secure it to your clothing. Garnets: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078M979TG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_zgQkDbBN2AK5R Pins: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FR3FXU2/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_vgQkDbCRMWDA1 The broach has it’s own unique features. It was harder than I thought to learn all the tools, but it was all done with free stuff. Please be gentle in the comments. This is my first remix. I had no idea how to do it before I started.
