Adding a seam allowance to your cutting pattern is an essential step before you begin sewing, as it allows for a smooth and accurate fit of the garment pieces together once they're stitched. To do this correctly, start by adding 1/4 inch (6 mm) to all cut edges on the pattern piece. This will give you enough room to sew accurately without compromising the integrity of the fabric or the finished garment.
