Seahorse feeder with frag rings
thingiverse
This is a combined seahorse feeder and frag holder for 1 inch PVC pipe that comes together with very tight connections, requiring solvent or a heat gun to assemble the pieces without them falling apart. There are two versions available: small and large. The large version features a flange that sits under the sand to help keep it upright, as well as more room between hitch posts and the feeder. Seahorses tend to hitch onto vertical rods rather than horizontal ones, which is why this combined feeder was created. Additionally, horizontal rods do not print well, making this design practical for use in aquariums. Having an ugly PVC pipe exposed in a tank is not ideal, so adding frag holders helps encrust the PVC with corals, creating a more natural-looking feeder. If you have time, mix concrete with aragonite and rock salt to create a lightweight, porous structure that can be used as part of the live rock foundation. This item will degrade slowly if printed in PLA, which is not a bad thing since it provides carbon for bacteria to consume along with nitrates and phosphates. This process is similar to vodka dosing. For a long-lasting item, consider using PETG instead, which is easier to print than ABS and won't break down over time.
