Seagate Portable Drive (HDD) Rack/Stand
prusaprinters

If you have more than one drive attached to your computer, this rack/stand may make your work space a little more efficient by allowing you to stack the drives.

I created it to accommodate my 2TB and 4TB drives. It has internal dimensions of 80.5 x 117 x 28 mm, so it should work with most 2.5" drives Seagate has made in recent years. I have not tested it with WD drives, as I do not have any.

I created a lower plinth to hold up the bottom drive to allow airflow underneath and a top cover plate to make the stack look a little nicer.

The sections do NOT clip together; they are just held by gravity, so remember, if you pick up the stack or move it, it will separate easily.

At the rear, a large enough cutout for the drive cable most Seagate's drive cables exits from the centre area.

I've created cutouts on the inner walls for adding padding if required to make the drive fit snugly. I've used little rubber feet to do this with my drives. You could use foam or rubber cut to size.

TIP:

I find that adding little rubber feet to the bottom plinth helps to stop it sliding around and adds some vibration damping.

You can always use a large rubber band to hold it together.

I found printing with supports helped with the cable opening and the corner sections to give a clean finish, but they are not required if your printer is good enough.

Upload a picture I would love to see how your setup looks with this rack system. I have not tried more than 3 drives stacked, but it should work safely with at least 4.

I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer:

Remember, I am not responsible if you drop any drives and damage them or your data during use.

Print Settings

Printer:

Prusa Mini+

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.15

Infill:

15

Filament:

PolyTerra PLA

Green

Notes:

Version 1

Category: Computer
