This sea urchin-inspired birdhouse expands for your growing flock, designed for birds from wrens to golden eagles. Print without support on any 3D printer; PLA is recommended over ABS due to less warping. The 12 hinged "leaves" attach to a circular base and screw onto a tree for mounting. Inspired by a stainless steel steamer, this design required careful tweaking during testing for successful printing. Print settings include ABS material, low Makerware settings, 5% infill, and 0.3mm layer height. Measuring around 9cm across, the birdhouse may print better at slower speeds.
