Sailing Ship Model for Tabletop Gaming with Compartments Scaled Down for Printability; Removable Tops Planned The design has been modified to accommodate removable tops, but there's a caveat - the pieces won't fit on my home printer's print bed, so it's still a work in progress. To test its viability, I'll attempt a 85% scale print of this model for a potential board game adaptation. The process should be smooth since no issues arose during Netfabb Pro scans. The original design features windows on the stern side with awkward angles that didn't splice as well as desired, resulting in some odd angles/bits that need refinement. I've added internal structure to support the upper floor and am pleased with the progress so far. In the future, I might replace the windows and doors with separate elements to enhance printability. The middle section has a single top piece and two halves, which should accommodate the mast on the lower deck without issues - though it may require extending on the lower portion to allow for removal of one or both halves while maintaining mast insertion. The original design was supposedly created in SolidWorks, but I couldn't find the source file. Instead, I modified this model using Fusion360 and Meshmixer, as well as testing import/export capabilities with Meshlab, Netfabb Pro, and Tinkercad to analyze model size/structure. In my experience, if Tinkercad can import a file without degradation or loss of polygons/faces, it usually prints/slices flawlessly on any machine, making it a useful tool despite its limitations.
