I am working on modifying my Flsun QQS for high-temp operation- and it, for some reason, really didn't like the Biqu (that thing is heavy, and was placed awkwardly- limiting print volume and requiring extra care when uploading new firmware.). The SDHX works well so far, but a flex drive seems a step up overall- it removes the stepper's weight, making for the lightest direct drive possible (which is even more important on a rather flimsy machine such as the QQ), while also removing the poor thing from a potentially really heated environment. The problem was, there are no dual-gear options out there it seems- so here we go: I borrowed a portion of the 40T LEGO model, as well as the awesome idea to use a LEGO worm (seems like by far the best option, both durability and cost-wise); the gear is, in my humble opinion, better printed though- that makes for a greater possibility of shape optimisation (LEGO gears aren't really the best shape for a worm mesh...), as well as better material selection- ABS is nice (even though it sucks...), but having it printed opens the possibility of using nylons, PC and similar- improving the temperature resistance and tribology. PS. was done in Blender, because hobo way is the best way Print: All the files, plus the latch (MIRRORED) from the original SDHX extruder ideally from something capable of taking a bit of punishment, and having good stiffness and layer adhesion (more advanced copolyesters or nylons, PC...). Would recommend overextruding the LEGO stand-in part for better line adhesion. Stuff needed: flex shaft (I used 3mm diameter from a dremel tool), a teflon tube to match; lego worm; Bondtech gears, with needle bearings and a pin (the usual kit); filed down 5mm drive shaft 2x m3 nuts 2x 25mm m3 bolts; 1x 20mm m3 bolt; 1x m3 worm (a shorter m3 screw can help press the nuts in place) 4x 5x10x5mm bearings m6 nut zip ties to hold the flex shaft in place a bit of patience :P PS: grease the worm well:P
