SD Micro Treasure Chest - Magnetic
thingiverse
Treasure chest that holds up to twenty SD Micro cards securely. Printing this file at one hundred percent will provide sufficient tolerance for the cards not to get stuck in their slots. The lid keeps them safe while still leaving enough room for thin foam if you don't want them to rattle. Printing: The bottom can be printed upright without supports. However, the lid requires supports and should also be printed upright for a clean outer finish. I successfully printed my lid with ironing enabled in Cura and got great results; it's not recommended for the bottom. Adding magnets: Both the bottom and the lid can be equipped with three millimeter by three millimeter cylindrical neodymium magnets, which are relatively inexpensive and extremely strong. The holes have built-in tolerance but may require drilling to get a clean hole. If your magnets are loose, some glue or epoxy should keep them in place well (sand the magnet before applying it). A piece of tape can be used between two magnets to ensure perfect orientation and depth. I was able to press-fit the magnets into the lid but had to drill out the holes in the case.
