The Sd.Kfz. 234, a family of armored cars designed and built in Germany during World War II, boasted a range of impressive features. These vehicles were strategically lightweight for their time, equipped with a 20, 50 or 75 mm main gun that could fire with precision, and powered by a robust Tatra V12 diesel engine. The Sd.Kfz. 234 bears a striking resemblance to the appearance of its cousin, the Sd.Kfz. 231 (8 rad). The 234/2 Puma variant proudly showcased a 5 cm KwK 39 L/60 gun and 1 x MG 42, both strategically positioned for maximum effectiveness. Originally designed for the VK 1602 Leopard light tank, this fully enclosed turret offered unparalleled protection for its crew. The turret's front was shielded by an impressive 30 mm (1.2 in) armor plate at a 20° angle from the vertical, while the sides and rear boasted 10 mm armor set at 25°, and the top plate stood strong with 10 mm (0.39 in) armor. The gun mantlet was expertly rounded, offering a robust defense with its 40 to 100 mm (1.6 to 3.9 in) thickness. Between September 1943 and September 1944, an impressive 101 Sd.Kfz. 234s were brought into service.
