I designed a custom case for an SD card reader module on my Ender 3, thanks to my new MKS Gen L mainboard. By adding this card reader, you can keep your original LCD screen without needing to swap it out. I connected six wires directly from the module to a 6x2 pin header that plugs into the mainboard's AUX-3 header. (http://www.robotrebels.org/gallery/16_08_07_17_7_42_19.jpeg) Use D53 for the CS pin. To secure the module in place, use glue – I used 3M VHB to attach it to an aluminum profile on the front of the case. A few tweaks are needed in your firmware to use this card reader and the original display: - (https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/ajg9m5/mks_gen_l_sd_card/efokv2q/) - Uncomment "#define CR10_STOCKDISPLAY" - Comment "#define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER" - Replace #define SD_DETECT_PIN 49 with #define SD_DETECT_PIN -1 in the pin.RAMPS.h file, about line 427. To keep your stock LCD working, rotate the ribbon cable by cutting a small tab on its display end. Alternatively, remove the female connector from the LCD PCB and flip it over to rotate it the other way. I'll soon update this design – just be sure to bend those headers so they fit properly.
