SD Card Clip for Rasberry-Pi

Any owner of an early Raspberry-Pi will surely appreciate just how flimsy the SD card holder really is. The thin strap stretched across the back of it can be easily snapped, breaking into two pieces instantly. This design makes a clip that slides seamlessly onto the Raspberry-Pi and recreates a slot for the SD card perfectly. My own design is rather clumsy compared to the elegant solution devised by gould300 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:610086). However, because it supports the card well beyond the edge of the PCB, it may prove more durable in schools and other places where the R-Pi boards might receive rough treatment frequently. Not needing to be glued on also means that any broken clip can easily be replaced quickly. As you might have guessed I discovered gould300's design after I had already printed my own original design. However, seeing as I had already completed my own creation, I am still choosing to make it available now. Comments are most welcome at this time! How I Designed This I used openSCAD to design the part and a Robox 3-D printer to create it. The back pressure plate has a small raised area that can be increased even beyond the standard 0.3mm to push the SD card firmly in against the contact points if necessary. The openSCAD file is also available for people to use and modify at will. This program is highly recommended to teachers and students who may need a low-cost entry into the 3-D design world easily. For educationalists, it has the added benefit of sharpening up students' mathematical and programming skills all at once as they are engineering their designs. It is incredibly easy to make basic shapes, but the true power of the language makes even very complicated designs achievable too. Students can start off with something small and progress to whatever complexity they can handle or is required for their model.OpenSCAD may not be universally liked by everyone, but it does have a very active support group available now. It's worth checking out how recent any criticism might be to see just how relevant it still remains today.
