SCX10 Skid Plate. High Clearance, Flat Bottom

thingiverse

Center skid plate for the Axial SCX10 RC crawler, designed to provide a little more ground clearance and prevent getting hung up. This skid plate does affect link geometry slightly. There are two versions available, one for stock links using Axial brand ball ends and another for popular Traxxas Revo rod ends. The main difference between the two is that axial balls are a bit wider than Revo balls. If you print the revo ball version, axial rod ends will not fit. You'll also need long M3 grub screws for the lower links on the skid plate, with at least 18mm in length recommended, such as M3x18. However, longer screws like M3x20 to M3x26 are even better, ensuring enough strength on both ends. Upper link hardware remains the same, and mounting the skid itself should also stay unchanged. Photos of printed parts, made with Taulman3D Alloy 910, demonstrate how well they hold up. ABS or PETG filaments would work well too, but PLA might not be the best choice unless you're gentle with your RC rigs. A notable point to consider is that using this skid plate will shorten your wheelbase by about 5/8 inch due to the upward movement of lower link mounts. You'll need to create new lower links to restore the original wheelbase. Print settings used for these parts include: * Printer: FT Kossel 2020 * Rafts: None * Supports: None * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill: 50%
