SCUP Version 1.0
thingiverse
I'm a fan of sipping on an ice-cold tea with crushed ice every now and then, but I've been trying to avoid using disposable straws that inevitably lead to loud slurping sounds in quiet offices. Yesterday, I designed and printed out a scoop cup that I call SCUP Version 1.0. Disclaimer: This is a work-in-progress draft and it's experimental. No warranty is intended or implied. Use at your own risk. You're responsible for choosing the right materials for your printer, monitoring its operation, and following all steps in creating and finishing objects. Only use food-safe materials. Keep your printer clean and in good working order. Don't use poorly printed, broken, or incomplete objects. Close the cover before printing. Never eat anything bigger than your head. Never carry a cat home by its tail. Be nice to strangers. Use common sense. I specified a minimum of three layers of PLA, ran it at 35% fill density, and sealed the inner surface by melting it with a solvent (letting it evaporate before using). It keeps the ice away and is easy to use and clean: I drew a large radius between the bottom of the SCUP and the sides, so you can clean it without straining your hands. I just tested it out at my local watering hole and it works great! Your results may vary. Have some fun with this.
