Sculpture of an Hermaphrodite

Sculpture of an Hermaphrodite

myminifactory

This sculpture, crafted in Costa Rica's Atlantic Zone, depicts a person with striking hermaphroditic characteristics. These representations played a pivotal role within the artistic expressions of pre-Columbian cultures, whose dual symbolism (masculine-feminine) is deeply intertwined with fertility, and their indigenous elites were both carriers and reproducers. The fact that a human or mythical being with such distinctive features has been brought to life in stone underscores its significant standing within society. This object forms part of the "Scan The World" initiative, a non-profit endeavor introduced by MyMiniFactory. Through this effort, we are compiling a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source, community-driven project; if you have intriguing items nearby and wish to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
