This body serves as a vessel for holding the battery, motor and pens within a scribblebot or scribbling machine. Working with younger students, typically those in the 3rd through 6th grade range, I discovered that traditional scribbling machines constructed from yogurt cups, tape and glue were difficult to assemble using smaller hands. As a result, I designed this model utilizing Autodesk's 123D Design as a body for students to quickly get started with their own scribblebots. While maintaining enough flexibility for design and decoration purposes, students can then transition towards designing their own scribblebots from recycled materials and spare parts. The instructions to assemble the scribblebot involve printing it out in PLA using a 10% infill and a layer height of 0.20mm, with no supports or rafts included. Assembly procedure: Three pens of different colors are attached through pen holders, potentially requiring a small amount of tape wrapped around each to ensure a snug fit, depending on the size of the pens involved. Next, insert the small DC motor into the triangle holder and apply an offset weight utilizing glue from a hot glue gun for added stability. Then insert the wires from the DC motor into the battery holder, bend them inwards so that they come to rest against the inner wall. With everything in place, slide the AA battery inside the holder and your scribblebot is ready to function! Version 9 features an upgraded support system providing greater stability to the motor.
