Screwless Hard Disk Crate for 5 SATA hard drives

thingiverse

This was a low-plastic (about 100 grams of filament needed) frame to hold 5 SATA hard drives without screws to allow easy hard drive removal. It was initially designed to be a minimal plastic ad-hoc holder for 5 SATA drives for a hot plug SATA RAID/port multiplier backplane. It's can be used to keep hard drives from hitting each other during storage too, doesn't necessarily need to be for online hard drives though the SATA and power connectors stay exposed in the holes in the back. Ideally if you want to power the hard drives in the chassis, run the drives on the edge so that the platters are vertical, so that the hard drive aren't stacked up and down. As PLA is temperature sensitive, you may need a fan to keep the drives and this frame cool. If you want the hard drives to get warm, you'll need to use ABS or PETG instead. Don't Drop/Abuse... it is flimsy, trade off for minimal plastic and not require screws. And it was intended for drives to easily come out from the front (to facilitate hot swap...)
