Screw/ Worm drive filament extruder Bowden

Screw/ Worm drive filament extruder Bowden

thingiverse

A 3D printer filament driver using a bowden setup features a wood screw and geared stepper motor, providing higher forces than traditional extruders due to increased tooth engagement and worm gear/wood screw mechanical advantage. The replaceable wood screw is secured by spring pressure while filament enters the assembly through a hole, passes between the hinge and screw, traveling the length of the screw before exiting via a push-to-connect fitting. Supported by two 1/8'' rods, this experimental design is based on Werner Berry's concept. Key components include a steel rod for hinge, steel rod supports, compression springs, a wood screw, hex driver, shaft coupler, tensioner bolt, washers, thin profile nylock nuts, push-to-connect tube adapter, shoulder screw, mounting screws, and a geared stepper motor like the Kysan 1040212. Note that some images may be outdated, and filament breakage could occur due to tight bends; bug fixes are in progress.
