Screw-On Filament Cleaner
thingiverse
I've always been frustrated with most filament-cleaner designs, as you have to feed the filament through them BEFORE feeding it into the extruder. Forgetting about this can lead to wasted time unloading the filament and performing costly reworks. That's why I designed this efficient cleaner, which allows for after-feeding of the filament. To get started, simply insert a sponge into the smaller capsule, making a cut halfway through its center. Allow it to slip onto your filament before screwing the counter-part securely over top. Your design is now complete! One trick I use with this cleaner is cutting out sponges slightly larger than the inner capsule's diameter, allowing me to adjust pressure on the filament as needed by screwing the counter-part tightly onto it. This gives me a customizable setup. I've also found that applying a small amount of oil to the sponge provides ideal lubrication for smoother operations. With this simple, yet effective cleaner design, I can save valuable time and streamline my filament handling process.
