SCREW & NUT

SCREW & NUT

A few days ago, a family member asked me for a metric thread of 18 and a step of 2 mm, as his boat's bilge pump had broken. After searching for threads in Solid Works and not finding the metric thread of 18 and a step of 2 mm, I decided to build it from scratch based on the geometric definitions of the DIN 13 standard. I have attached the DWG file. When building the pieces, I left a tolerance of about 100 microns between the threads to facilitate their connection. Once printed, I had to lightly grind the thread of the screw, as in each layer where the extruder began to print it would leave a small projection. Once ground slightly with a blade, it worked perfectly. Despite being printed with an infill of 30%, it looks quite solid and resistant. Printed in PLA at 200 degrees Celsius and with a resolution of 200 microns. Here's a video of the result: http://youtu.be/Fa_MnYPb6zE
