Screw Jar Lid for Pint or Half Pint Wide Mouth Ball or Mason Jar
thingiverse
An accurate base model of a screw lid compatible with standard Mason or Ball jars is shared, as it is useful in its own right. The jar has a 0.25-inch pitch single turn thread and a base diameter of approximately 2.63 inches, with a minimum side wall thickness of .060 for robustness. Inside the lid, there's a flat ring that matches the jar rim, providing an improved landing and seal zone. The lid was designed in Solidworks 2013 and printed on an Ordbot Hadron Printer using ABS filament with a layer thickness of .2 mm (200 microns) and an 85% fill factor, with scaffolding support turned off. Printing occurred at 235C for ABS and 110C for the first layer, followed by 100C for subsequent layers on a heated glass bed, while Aquanet Extra Super Hold was applied to the Monokote film for effective stick down. The Solidworks 2014 design file, STEP, and Parasolid are also provided.
