Screw jacks are essential for elevating bulky objects by small distances. They function via a screw that engages with a nut fixed within the jack's main structure. To operate, a tool called the 'tommy bar' is inserted into the screw head and, when turned, causes the screw to move either upward or downward, thereby lifting or lowering the load.
