Screw driver, limited torque
thingiverse
I just had to get my hands on some fantastic new Battat take-apart toys (2nd edition). The minute I saw them, I knew I had to have them. The plastic threads used in these toys are really delicate. They only last for about three-quarters of a turn before they start to break. This is why the screwdriver that comes with them isn't very strong. That's why I think it would be a good idea to use a torque-limited screwdriver along with the AndrewBougie magnet-remixe-bits. This screwdriver has some really cool features: * It's spring-loaded, so you can adjust the tension beforehand. * You can add up to six steel balls to increase its torque. Three seems like enough for me. * The torque limit is almost independent of how hard your toddler presses the driver into the bolt. * By design, the maximum tightening torque is slightly lower than the loosening torque. * Only three printed parts are needed when using the standard Battat bits (option A). * Or you can use the nice bits from AndrewBougie or the remixed magnetic version (option B). If you need to replace any of the bolts or nuts, I recommend using these Battat-compatible designs. You can also download some alternative designs if you prefer.
