Screen Door - Replacement Latch Plate
thingiverse
The metal strip on the plastic latch plate for our screen door holds both the latch and the dead bolt in place. When it snapped off, 3D printing seemed like a viable option for repair. The resulting part isn't as robust as the original, and is certainly not as heat resistant, but it was significantly easier than machining an aluminum replacement. The FreeCAD file is included for modifications. Hopefully this will be of some use to someone. Update: One week installed, and functioning well. Update: As of 26 July, still in place and working effectively. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Printrbot Plus Rafts: Doesn't matter Supports: No Resolution: Any Infill: 50% Notes: I printed in PLA - not a good choice, but it was loaded in the printer. ABS or PET would certainly be better. Print with at least 50% infill, so you have some strength. I may modify the design to allow insertion of some steel or brass rod.
