The loader is a massive piece of machinery used in mining, construction, agriculture and other earthmoving projects. The rear section features a vertically movable bucket (also known as the container) with a sharp horizontal leading edge. The container can be hydraulically lowered and raised. When the container is lowered, the front edge slices into the soil or clay like an airplane and fills the container. When the container is full (8 to 34 cubic meters or 10 to 44 cubic yards heaped, depending on type) it is raised, and sealed with a vertical blade (known as the shield). The loader can transport its load to the fill area where the blade is raised, the back panel of the container, or the ejector, is hydraulically pushed forward and the load tumbles out.
