SCP-1499, a Soviet GP-5 single-filter gas mask, remains fully functional despite its anomalous properties. When secured firmly to a human's head, the effects of SCP-1499 become apparent. The person wearing the mask instantly disappears from view and becomes invisible to the naked eye. Meanwhile, those around them are obstructed by towering black structures that seem to arise from nowhere, with floors made entirely of a powdery ash-like material. The person under the mask perceives humanoid figures roaming the area, their presence unmistakable despite being invisible to others.
