Scouter's Word Lock - Designed for Geocaching
thingiverse
Encrypt your geocaches (or hide your valuables) with this Scouter's Word Lock! This cryptex-inspired geocache box allows Scouts and Scouters to hide geocaches with a password. The password can be inside another geocache or as a part of the geocache hint. The recommended passcode is "SCOUT," but there are 248,831 other possible combinations if you don't like that one! See pictures for assembly; you will need to print 5 Letter Rings and 5 Letter Ring Inserts and slot them together. The notch on the insert corresponds to the letter on the ring which opens the lock. So if the notch lines up with "S," then that ring will have to be at "S" for the lock to open. NOTES: This container is not waterproof. I recommend storing your geocache log (see Geocaching_Log.pdf) in a plastic bag before hiding. I don't recommend scaling up or down at all--the parts may not fit or slide properly. Scale at your own risk. EDIT 2/8/2021: There were a few errors in the original files that prevented them from printing and assembling properly. The files have since been repaired. EDIT 2/9/2021: I have updated the files again for better visual appeal. They will still function the same as before and you do not need to reprint (unless you would like to!).
