Scout - A printable tribot frame
thingiverse
Scout is a printable tribot aimed at teaching the Boy Scout robotics merit badge. It's inspired by MiniSkyBot and uses some of its wheels. The frame has been redesigned to meet merit badge requirements for less than $50, with minimal printed parts, vitamins, and accommodating an Arduino Diecimila or Nano using a 9V battery. It's flexible enough for boys to improve and extend the design. The frame is a single printed piece, with tabs for holding servo motors that can be tapped without nuts. The top holes can screw on an Arduino without nuts too. A 9V battery fits with friction in the bracket, which also has a friction fit cup for a ball-bearing caster. Large holes minimize plastic waste and allow wire routing. Costs are low due to affordability considerations; the final project cost breakdown is provided, including the materials used.
