A Scotch yoke is a mechanism that converts rotary motion into reciprocating linear motion. It consists of a circular disc (or slider) and a sliding block (or yoke). The yoke is attached to the disc at an offset position, creating an eccentric connection. As the disc rotates, the yoke moves back and forth in a straight line.
