Ringed scorpion The ring is around the body of this arachnid animal, a feature it has in common with some other scorpions in its family and genus. It is often used as an identifying trait for certain species within the genus Androctonus. The distinctive band on their bodies allows scientists to tell them apart from other similar-looking venomous spiders, many of which belong to other families or even entirely different orders of arachnids altogether!
