Scoby Prosthetic Leg

Scoby, a moscovian duck at the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary, suffered a severe infection necessitating an amputation above the knee joint. To create a prosthetic for Scoby, a team including Rachael Swartz, Jocelyn Kolb-DeWitt, Alisha Rohrer, and Darlene Farris-LaBar designed a "cup" that allows his nub to sit in while providing an adjustable joint angle. The prototype was created using Rhinoceros 3D and Solidworks software. Scoby's unique situation required the creation of both ankle and knee joints, with the final prosthetic to be made more comfortable with a silicone sock and a swim foot added for functionality. This project is ongoing as the team works to finalize designs and provide Scoby with a working prototype due to time constraints and his health.
