SCM - Subsea Control Module
grabcad
This is a rough replica of a subsea control module, scaled down for clarity. The real thing would be massive in comparison. This model represents the brain of a Subsea XT-tree, its primary function to regulate oil flow from reservoirs and pinpoint any production errors. (The protective cap is removed, as evident in the accompanying photo) Front: Solenoid valves - an electromechanically operated valve that controls hydraulic pressures in subsea trees. Back (black cylinder): The central computer unit - housed within two motherboards - processes commands and signals from onshore to seabed facilities. Left and right side: High-pressure tanks. This model was part of a school project during my first semester at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.
