Scissor Joint

Scissor Joint

thingiverse

There were initially two half-spherical plastic components that formed two scissors blades connected together, but they somehow vanished. This led to the blades being extremely loose and hazardous when attempting to cut something. To resolve this issue, I redesigned the two plastic parts at the joint. My revised component consists of two cylindrical pieces. The smaller cylinder fits perfectly into the scissor hole and its length is precisely equal to half of the hole's depth. Following the installation of the new printed components, the scissors became usable without being excessively loose; however, the friction created by these new parts was not as substantial as that of the original piece. Initially, I designed a single part with a hole in its smaller cylinder and another component featuring an even smaller cylinder to fit into the other part's hole. Nevertheless, the size of the hole proved too small for the printer to accurately reproduce. If my original design could be printed with sufficient precision, it would likely result in a superior joint piece for the scissors.
