Scissor Jack

This scissor jack design is user-friendly with a simple folding mechanism. Weighing 7.25 lbs., it doesn't require any tools for assembly or have loose components. The jack can fit into an envelope measuring 26X14X16, and possibly even the smaller one diagonally. Eight captive hand knobs enable tightening of joints, seat track, and mounting plate clamps with approximately 1 Nm torque. The mounting plate slots into clamps similar to the seat track, which lock down when the hand knobs are tightened. The jack consists of just 12 unique parts requiring manufacturing, adding up to 104 total parts including 32 fasteners. Most parts use 6061-T6 aluminum, while higher-stress parts opt for 7075-T6. The estimated cost for two systems is approximately $10,000, primarily due to the small quantity machining of struts. Other components are sourced from standard stock like round tubes, precision ground aluminum shafts, and off-the-shelf fasteners.
