Scion FRS Automatic/AT Boot Retainer

So, I was picking up some lunch from a drive thru, heading home, and all the sudden the cap on my shifter just popped off. I guess the adhesive pad Toyota uses just wore off finally?

So, I ran to Autozone, picked up a crappy, kind of ugly, way to expensive shift knob. Installed it, and the boot was sagging. The stock shifter has an angled plastic bit that holds it in place.

So I made this. It's designed to replace the the plastic “shim” / collet included with my new shifter and still provide the same function as the stock shifter's boot retainer. From what I can tell most other similar “universal fit” shift knobs use a similar design so this probably works on most.

My Prusa i3 MK3S struggles with support material for PET-G, so I specifically designed this final version with 45 degree angles so it can be printed “up side down” and not need supports.

Editing

I included the Fusion 360 file so a basis for the boot retainer is there but you can adjust for your needs. The second picture shows the difference between the actual boot retainer portion and the collet portion for my setup. Everything below the green line, in the collet area, is specific for “universal fit" adapters. That said, it's measured for 10.2mm inner diameter, so you probably want to keep that as the shifter shaft is 10mm.
