This adapter allows a Presta tube to fit snugly in a bike rim drilled for Schrader valves, making it possible to use the wrong type of valve without any issues. It is carefully designed with an inside diameter slightly smaller than necessary so that a Presta valve can easily cut threads into the adapter when tightened on, securing it firmly in place.
