School Model Import Guide: OBJ to Cinema 4D Importing OBJ files in Cinema 4D is a straightforward process that requires attention to detail. Here's how you do it: First, create a new file or double-click on the OBJ file you want to import. This will open the file in Cinema 4D. Next, select the object in the window below by clicking on it. You can also use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Shift + O" to quickly select the object. In the Normals section, you have two options: points or skip. Choose the one that best suits your needs. If you're unsure, try skipping and see how it affects your model. Now, navigate to the Texture Coordinates (UVs) section and mark the box next to UVs. This will help Cinema 4D understand how to apply textures to your model. In the Material section, click on "Import MTL file." This will allow you to import your model's texture information from the MTL file. By default, Cinema 4D may assign random colors to your model. If this happens, don't worry! Simply select the material and change it to a more suitable color. However, if your model appears transparent, there's an easy fix: go back to the Normals section and press "Invert Transparency." This should resolve the issue. If you encounter any errors during the import process, don't hesitate to send me a message. I'll be happy to help troubleshoot the problem. Additionally, I can create PBR textures for your model at an extra cost. Simply let me know if you're interested! As a bonus, error fixing is always free!
